"Guys I need everybody to start sending me something. I want to start organizing everything by next week prior to Thanksgiving"
"Please send me something alright? I have the tendency to get unmotivated and stop trying when people stop caring."

Did I sound too controlling? Perhaps a bit manipulative? I felt like me expressing that I'll become unmotivated and apathetic was improper.

Have they agreed to have you in charge of the project or have you just taken that mantle on yourself?

If your team members have expressly stated that they want you to spearhead things, it's fine to have expectations and push for commitments. If you've just declared yourself leader without buy-in from the rest of the team, there's no reason for them to give a rats ass what you want.

Say whatever you want. There's nothing you can do to make a group project be anything other than last minute bullshit than to do all the work on your own. All the pleading, yelling, and arguing for documents won't help you.

I have expressed to the group leader that I will be "composing" the entire paper and the 2 other members at the time agreed. I think the group leader role is just semantics so I gave the role to the current leader and decided to take a secondary vice leadership spot for myself.

I want to get an A on this project, therefore I am NOW forced to lead even when I don't want to.

I fucking hate group projects. One of my courseworks where I got the lowest marks possible in uni was a group project.

Now you need to figure out do your classmates care more about getting an A for the sake of their own grade, or sabotaging the project just to spite you for that insufferable attitude.

There's an official leader and vice leader or did you just make those up?

I've flat out thought about doing the entire project myself and offering a business proposition to my classmates where I'll charge them $50 for their portion of work. If they decline, I'll turn in the shitty paper to my professor and turn in the paper I wrote myself as a secondary hedge to save myself from failing.

There's an official leader but no vice leader. I'm claiming vice leadership because I'm pretty much doing all the work.

Pretty sure they call that "academic dishonesty" and it gets you into a lot of shit.

Bleh. This reminds me why group projects are the worst. There is no accountability on the academic side to make sure everyone is participating.

I don't think there is anything wrong with suggested you'd like an update from the group, and would like to be able to do your part before the holiday / not last minute.

If they aren't responding I'd say they just want to procrastinate or don't care. Probably don't say you'll stop caring, but you can emphasize that procrastinating for the last minute is something that you'd like to avoid as it causes you extra stress, or you won't have time to finish your part. If they did care they'd give you some sort of an update - even if it's saying they are busy now but plan to work on it on such and such date.
