No one should skip this because of multi verses period.

Invincible has the best usage of multiverses an all of media that I've ever seen.

And it also ties into parts of the plot here and there.

Science Dog, for example, had to be turned into Seance Dog in the show.

I think the creators took the (more legitimate, not stupid) criticism about her character to heart, because she's not terrible so far and seems more accepting of Invincible.

But we all know she's just a placeholder until Mark gets together with Eve.

Pretty sure it is, though I forget how it's introduced. But I'm certain that Robot specifically builds his robot drone army so that hitting them will make a sound of the right frequency to harm Viltrumites.

Didnt Robot kill .a viltrumite . in this arc with a noise + bomb in mouth combo??? this is the earliest I remember the weakness being shown explicitly but there may have been some hints even earlier.

Haven't seen episode 2 yet, but (as someone who usually isn't a huge fan of superhero stuff) I did really like the first season and the first ep of Season 2 seems to be keeping up the same level of quality.

Watched the first two. Amber's character did an entire 180 and thank God. I honestly couldn't believe Mark would choose S1 Amber over Eve but S2 Amber doesn't make me question Mark's character writing.

Also people whining about multiverse stuff is misguided. It's clearly set up for later and the stuff it's set up is really interesting imo.

Also, Levy is voiced by Sterling K. Brown, he was never going to be a good guy LOL.

I kinda forgot what happened to him tbh but he lost in s1 or died idk

First episode was lit! Can't wait to see episode 1. I really wish they just released it all at once though.

I'm sorry but Eve's dad is way more annoying. The only thing he does is yell. It's so fucking dumb.

Second ep was better than the first. Not sure how much I care about the Guardians right now, or whatever they're called. Eve's dad sucks. If my daughter was pretty much the strongest being ever I would be happy af and have her make me a million gold dubloons.

She's legitimately the most powerful being in the Invincible universe. Not only because of her base powers, but also because her powers make her functionally immortal. Every time she dies she is reborn into the prime of her life (late teens, early 20s), and more powerful than before. Given enough time, she could not just outlive everyone, but grow her powers into practically that of a god. She may even learn to defy death for others one day and resurrect Mark if he ever dies of old age, also making HIM more powerful than before.

I really hope that they don't sideline/depower her too much in the show like she was in the comic most of the time. She is my favorite character after Mark.

It's not fair to judge when the modern multiverse stuff you saw was made after this was. The original arc was written 20 years ago before any of the stuff you have seen.

This is only the case from a fundamental flaw in the system that DC built. It's not something they do because "hey this is cool", it's because they keep pretending to maintain a canon when the authors are all playing the telephone game with each other, using the plot as the message.

I mean if you can't tell the difference between a shitty multiverse story like The Trash or Multiverse of Madness compared to a good one like Spiderverse or Everything Everywhere All at Once, I'm not sure what to tell you.

The course correction on Amber is super real though, the breakup was never even implied in the recap they had of season 1 and the relationship they have in this season is like it never even happened.

To be fair, his track record with writing female characters isn't...the best. Mostly using TWD as a reference here, but still.

I think I remember comic book Amber being reasonable. I don't remember the whole accusation of Mark running away even though she secretly knew he was Invincible already but still being mad, ever happened in the comic. I think that whole fight was made for the show

In the comics, she was upset at him always flaking on her/leaving her during an emergency and thought he was a drug dealer until he finally decided to tell her he's Invincible. They proceeded to fuck shortly after that.

Looks like they went with Angstrom early to get that arc out of the way. I don't feel pity for Angstrom at all.

I hope this is the season Mark and Eve get together.

For those into powerful but not OP characters, Viltrumites are great.

I haven't read the comics - which makes dodging spoilers ITT kind of tough lol - but the multiverse stuff they've done in these two episodes doesn't really seem like it's going to be deep exploring the multiverse like the current MCU. It's more just a backstory and weapon for Angstrom.

This episode was good but a little weird to me. Not super focused. I can kinda see where each ten minutes would have been a single issue of the comic, but I'm just guessing there.

Correct. This arc currently on the show is not like the typical multiverse story that I think multiverse haters are fearing. Its not that bad. So I hope people don't give up forever on the show over it. Once it's over, the 3rd arc is pretty interesting

The show/comic with shapeshifting martians among other types of aliens, an immortal superhero from cavemen times that was secretly Abraham Lincoln, Atlanteans that look like fish people, kaiju, a demon detective from hell, and a city that's surrounded by a permanent midnight barrier?

I don't dislike multiverse stories because they are unrealistic. I dislike them because they are too often messy, confusing, and a go to for writers who are out of ideas.

However, I've been told that Invincible doesn't fall onto those traps, so I'll watch with an open mind.

Tbh, I find shows that introduce the multiverse early on are actually intending to use the multiverse as a real story element rather than those that use it years after starting when its more so just a way to create crossovers that could never happen otherwise or to write around the limitations you gave yourself early on.

Not that the latter means it has to be bad, but the former deserves at least some benefit of the doubt before writing it off.
