The Blind Forest is mostly good, but the escape sequences were mild-to-moderately obnoxious since there's such a strict time limit on it.

Trial and error? They were kinda tough but nothing I'd consider trial and error. That implies that you had to guess at certain points and I don't recall having to guess, ever.

Oh hey I just completed it a couple of weeks ago so it's still pretty fresh in my mind.

Imo they did tone down on the chase & rising lava sequences and improved the combat by a lot. But there are still a few parts which require a higher amount of finesse and multiple tries. In place of reduced chase sequences, you get boss fights now.

Platforming is also improved with a new grappling hook-like skill you can unlock mid game.

I don't know how old you are, but if a 40 year old man like me can complete it in about 15hrs, it shouldn't be a problem for you lol.

The ending is quite polarising from what I read in the Steam forums, but I'm just neutral about it.

Edit: I did get a little tired in some of the final area platforming, so I just brute force my way through with my max health and healing.

It's not a matter of guessing, you just get so little time to figure out what you need to do in each little section that by the time you've done so, whatever time mechanic catches you and you die.

Oh, that's fine, I don't mind that kind of stuff. The chase sequences were just annoying.

And I didn't love the story in this game anyway, so I dunno if I'll mind the ending either way <_<

Tbh I didn't really care for the story either >_>. It's just background fluff to me. I did enjoy bringing the town back to life and talking to the townsfolk.

And they kinda blindsided you with the self sacrifice angle.

It was just transparently trying so hard to be a deep, sad indie game what with your mom dying in the intro that I couldn't take it seriously.

Didn't seem like it was to me. Every parent did what they thought was best for their child, right or wrong. It isn't a stretch that after seeing another Naru shielding Ori, the same way Kuro attempted to shield her eggs, snapped her out of her grief and realized she'd be robbing another mother of their child.

Ah. Yeah, I still liked it a lot but I wouldn't have gone with that ending.

The devs definitely played Hollow Knight before making the sequel, huh
