i have not read spider-man comics in like 20 years

but man. venom being a mass organizing planet-conquering alien invasion spawning mastermind of insane power and dracula wings? fucking dracula wings? god that was so big dumb

I liked this version of Venom.

just because of all the crazy stuff Kraven and his hunters did, they had to establish Venom as an even bigger threat.

I'm not too familiar with him from the comics either, with the exception of a storyline I read as a kid, where he was an anti-hero and was eating the brains of bad guys.

alien invasion took it too far for me

IIRC Venom having wings was taken from at least one comic story, and alien invasion was done before with Web of Shadows at least.

So not new ideas, but they may still be kinda stupid, lol. I did think Venom himself is incredible and well-realized though.

I mean a symbiont alien invasion is something that happened in the comics thirty years ago so it's not even a new idea.

ok im not saying i have an encyclopedic knowledge of spider-man, im saying venom infecting all of new york with a spiral space rock and using his goo to create chasms and lift the ground into the sky is dumb as fuck

Okay that is dumb. Besides Venom was "edgy nineties anti hero" venom when "planet of the symbionts" happened so he was one of the people trying to stop that from happening.

Opinion discarded

I enjoyed it. Not sure why people are so bothered by the wings (you're not the only one that's complained about it TC). I just saw it as the Symbiote learning and evolving.

And with the Symbiote being a giant hive mind, The whole, trying to take over the city thing made sense too. They wanted to add more minds to the hive and they convinced Harry that it was helping people.

I assumed the infection bit was due to Harrys influence. Not that he wanted to literally like, invade and infect people, but he wanted to heal the world, and the symbiote went with its twisted version of that.

My takeaway was that it depended on the host. Like how with Peter, it basically made him an angry, mindless killing machine, hell bent on revenge and wanting recognition.

i just thought it was so lame in the narrative
