A common problem is the artwork / music. I technically can make them, but I just don't have the patience to make really good stuff. That often ends up putting me off when I try to do anything.

That aside, I have a few ideas and I'm not sure what to go after. One is just some kind of platformer. But that's a bit oversaturated, and my level designing skills for platformer games are hardly noteworthy. I'm more suited to playing them than making them, I guess.

Another is an RPG, with systems similar to FFX. I love FFX's battle system, and think a harder game with similar systems would be amazing. I've tried my hand at this before in RPG maker, and I'm very proud of the results... as far as battles go. Story, world building, etc though... I'm just not good at it. One way I thought of around that was to either make a game that's just a battle simulator type setup (think like if the entire game was FFX's Monster Arena, minus the tedious capturing aspect); or make one that's randomly generated and thus can't really have much plot anyway. But I'm not sure how much appeal the former would have; and it would be hard to really make good use of the battle system in the latter if randomness needs to be a significant factor.

The last idea is a Lemmings type game. I've got heaps of experience here; I've made a couple of clones of actual Lemmings games; and designed heaps of fanmade levels which are considered among the best out there. The question is though, how to make it stand out as a unique game in the same genre rather than just a direct knockoff, and also - given that such a game would likely do best on mobile - how to make Lemmings play well on a mobile device, with touchscreen input; this is an issue that existing Lemmings-like mobile games just don't seem to do well on.

There should be a game with Ninja Gaiden 2's combat mixed with Hades's roguelite design.

What about a motorcycle racing game with a combat element and Soundgarden's Badmotorfinger as the soundtrack?

Make the classic Breakout game, but with pinball flippers instead of a paddle

A card game would also be cool.

If I made a game I would start with that.
