Was watching a Youtube video where this woman said there was 3 generations of the show in 1 shirt. One where her mom watched the show. One where she watched it and then a new generation. She kind slammed the new gen a bit saying she had no idea why they changed it. I had no idea the show even had generations. Is the new generation really hated or was this woman just a random anecdote on the new gen.

My childhood version was the best version happens in a lot of franchises

Gen 1 and 2 were a bit more broad and could even appeal to little boys as well as little girls. G1 was adventurous while G2 was kinda slice-of-life style episodes that deal with "everyday issues".

Gen 3 and 3.5 MLP was very, very, very geared towards stereotypical little girls and babyfied for the most part, though I have seen some clips of G3 recently that were pretty funny.

Gen 4 is of course the most popular and iconic, thanks mostly the having characters and storylines that aren't dumbed down.

I haven't seen Gen 5, and while the characters are a very similar style to G4, I've read that it really messed up the continuity from G4, such as unicorns not having magic due to reasons I'm not aware of.

Gen 3 and 3.5 are absolutely the black sheep of the series.

Yeah, I figured. I think G5 just doesn't have the same charm G4 did for fans. I'd still like to check it out, but I just don't think I can dedicate the time to.

It's funny, but I just realized that this is the exact same pose on the mousepad my SO bought me a few years back. What makes it funny to me is that I believe this is fan art and not official.
