From the sound of things, The Escapist was conducting a mass firing of a bunch of people including the editor-in-chief, and the entire video team resigned in protest. So Zero Punctuation is dead now, and I can't imagine The Escapist itself has much longer left.

I stopped being a fan years ago when I outgrew his style of humor, but holy shit. Even I knew The Escapist was nothing without him.

Moviebob was one of their big draws back in the day. He left the company, but kept doing the same thing with different assets. Then they rehired him, and he kept doing the same thing. It wasn't too bad of a transition.

So here's hoping Yahtzee keeps doing the same thing in a different skin. Possibly the only reviewer whose reviewing still matters to me.

Still got a few Cold Takes and a Design Delve or two I need to watch, guess those will be the last Escapist videos I ever watch then.

Escapist told the editor he couldn't get his severance unless he signed an NDA which is illegal now iirc. So he could possibly sue if he chooses to.

Yeah if Yahtzee is leaving they're toast, they were doing a lot to acquiesce to how things would be run since they were realigning entire channel schedules based on what he wanted.

Cold Takes is good too, but ZP was the XIV to square enix, it's probably all that was keeping the company alive, they're fucked now

Can I just say that Previously Recorded was really bad? Their reviews anyway. For games they talked about I actually played their reviews were full of misinformation. In particular their Nioh review. And I don't mean in the sense that they disliked something that I liked, but they straight up misunderstood aspects of the games that they then proceeded to complain about. I really got the impression that they had no idea what they were doing outside of games they had life long experiences with.

I also tried to watch their bloodborne playthrough(s?) but there was no proper playlisting and labeling so it was impossible to find out where to start and how to progress since youtube doesn't put videos in some sort of order when you search a channel.

Their video on The Order 1886 was a classic though.

The real benefit of Previously Recorded was getting the occasional behind-the-scenes glimpse at RLM, plus an opportunity to converse with Rich, Jay, and Jack in a more casual setting.

I seem to recall Yahtzee had a channel called "Fully Ramblomatic" or something like that right before he was picked up by the escapist.

That was really my main draw. It was just kind of nice to listen to Rich and Jack talk games without being the butt of every joke in every scene (which I'm sure they don't mind as actors, but as viewers the change is pace is nice sometimes).
