Still saying "Bernie Bros" in 2023, long after the myth of Bernie Sanders supporters demographics revealed far more diversity including the largest contingent being young women, and long after the small contingent of edgelords and contrarians long abandoned him...

I guess some narratives of convenience never go away as long as they remain convenient.

The irony being that Bernie Bros. Is a slur cooked up and spread by centrist libs, the sort who are most likely to support the Netenyahu government no matter what right now.

It was a slur used to negatively stereotype Bernie Sanders voters as largely fringe misogynist white men. Actual demographics showed the largest constituent among supporters were women 18-49... something like that... you know, the exact ones that lost their right to choose thanks to the Obama/Biden administration's lack of concern when a SC seat was stolen, and then the election of Donald Trump after we were assured he couldn't possibly beat Hillary Clinton.

Yeah, no one is perfect anyway. I'm not sure why his stance on Israel is some great shock considering Bernie is Jewish. He doesn't practice the religion, but that's his background.

What's "immature" or "tankie" about wanting the killing of Gazans to stop? And wanting a ceasefire to stop that? Or criticizing politicians that stand in the way of that, even if they're generally on our "side." That's not not the left turning on someone over wanting a 1 percent higher tax rate. This is an issue of life and death and an ongoing genocide

Given how quick people have been to jump on progressives and leftists when the most tame criticism of Democrat politicians pops up, I'm starting to get the gross vibes that some of this is thinly veiled endorsement of Israel having a blank check to commit war crimes.

Some (thankfully not all, or even most) progressives are purists. Everything is black and white and nuance doesn't exist, and thus you're either 100% in lock step with them on every issue or you're a Nazi. There's no gray area, no middle ground.

Some are also just paid guns literally hired by the right to be an op to harm the left. You have one side with an infinite amount of money and another with literally nothing, it isnt surprising that happens.

I wouldn't be surprised if it was an adopted term. "Leftist" started out as a pejorative, but it just got convenient to use that for discourse.

Peeps forget that different regions can use the same terms for different things. Zionism here in the states is mostly a dogwhistle, but Israel was founded on the very basis of the ideal, and continues to maintain it.

Not true. I'd consider myself a leftist, I thought Bernie was the single best available option, and I believe glacial pace change is better than no change at all. I'd love to be proven wrong, but you need to go through the electoral system in order to get it changed in the first place.

The only thing I find surprising about this is that there are still people who don't understand that Sanders is, in fact, a politician. He has always been one. He will always be one.

no one ever claims to be a tankie, its a disparaging term for Marxist-Leninists that support basically anything over American imperialism even if it runs counter to their beliefs (to an extent I get the 'enemy of my enemy is my friend or at least a tool to solve a bigger problem' mentality, but its really short sighted)

Politicians may codify the changes in law, but the demand for change is fundamentally done with boots on the ground.
