My best friend's son has still been really into Backrooms for well over a year. I'd go as far as to say it's his biggest hobby or interest. It's almost all he talks about.

I was into it for a while. Some of the added lore was interesting, but I still maintain that it was at its best when it was just the one room it started with and no other elements.

I kind of agree with Super Eyepatch Wolf that adding spooky monsters to liminal spaces is neat and I'm glad people had fun with the concept, but that it fundamentally misses the point of liminal spaces.

I just fridge logic it into two separate universes, the first being the classic Backrooms that we all fell in love with originally, and the second being the MEG Backrooms that has had people exploring and documenting all sorts of weird things in them. I also do the same with the Smile Dog, as the red one tends to be associated with Jeff the Killer last I checked while the classic one is its own thing in my opinion.
