I was at Target (not the scary part), and they had some huge sale on home video (because they were moving away from selling physical media). This included a lot of those movie special editions, anime LEs, and a bunch of Criterion Collection stuff (i crave that Eraserhead set, but im not paying 40 bucks for it).

As i was filling my cart, i decided to bust out the phone to price check some things against ebay and amazon to make sure i wasnt getting honey dicked. As i did this, i accidentally clicked on a "supported ad" on google, and it brought me to some page that was all in Russian that was selling those shitty "Soap for men".

I tried to back up, but it just kept reloading the page. I tried to exit google and close the app, but it would just reopen. I tried to shut down the phone, but the power off screen would just dismiss and go back to that fucking soap page. I tried everything i could think of, but nothing worked.

Then i started getting push notifications in Russian by the dozen. Followed by texts and emails. This shit was total malware and was fucking up my phone. As a last resort i held down the power button for like 30 seconds in the hopes that it would hard reset everything, and that somehow worked.

I was able to open the phone again and all the apps were closed. I still had all the emails and texts, but those were easy to delete. Scanning the phone didnt turn up any unwanted apps or anything, so i was apparently in the clear. What i didnt notice was that, while this was happening, someone looted my fucking cart of all the good shit i had in there. I wanted to find that fucker and stomp them out in that Target. Then i woke up.

I guess the moral of the story is to always use an adblocker, be careful what you click (even by accident), fuck google and any site (gamefaqs) that doesnt properly vet their ads.
