My first run was probably my best, where I made it to Act 3, and felt like I only lost cause I got greedy trying to get another relic. Now Ive been wiping way earlier. Mostly just been trying to win with Ironclad. I dont like The Silent. The other one is cool, but I felt itd be best to start with the starter.

My issue is that a lot of the decks only work one way. I try poison decks all the time and never win, but once you go shiv deck, it's easy. Same for whirlwind decks, that's easy mode, yet trying other types, it sucks.

Wish you could win with any deck you want to build, rather than select ones.

You can.

You'll have lucky runs and unlucky runs. The best you can do is learn how different cards and relics work, hope for the best, and roll with the punches.

Ironclad is my least favorite character cuz he's boring and I always feel like I can't really do anything as him. Even so, he's the only character that I've beaten the true final boss with. Silent is great if you can get a lot of shiv cards or poison cards at once. Defect is my favorite cuz orb shenanigans are wacky and Claw decks feel so good. Fourth character also has some fun gimmicks, but it can also be frustrating managing stances.

Took a break, kept failing, took another break, and then I got some good stuff and did it.

My biggest tip for new players is to ALWAYS prioritize taking as little damage as possible every single turn.

That is pretty bad advice. That is especially bad advice if you have any form of sustain, or prior to ascension 5 since you heal full after boss fights. Obviously you aren't intentionally trying to take damage (usually), but prioritizing other cards plays is often far better. Health is a resource, so use it.

My suggestion: Build around what you have and what you know you will be facing. Don't get a specific archetype or deck size in mind; adjust as you go. Don't be afraid to skip card rewards, but don't be afraid to build a big also.

I find the game gets pretty repetitive quickly and the gameplay isn't interesting enough to sustain the drudgery

Ive beaten it with the robot guy, forget his name. I enjoy his mechanic. Now its either try the Silent again, or try the other one again. I feel like the 4th one has the potential to snowball pretty quick, but Im not sure.

Is this game still being updated? I haven't played it since 2020, I think.

A lot of chaos working against you. Ive built up some great decks that would probably melt the final boss only to get taken out by a preceding boss or even a mook because of how things played out.

Poison decks can get pretty strong. upgraded catalyst tripling the poison stacks on an enemy causes it to grow really fast if you have a few.

I had a run with the Defect a few nights ago that was so much fun. I barely used orbs, instead getting 3 Claws and a bunch of other 0 cost cards like Steam Barrier and Beam Cell. Then once I found All for One (Attack card that also pulls all 0 cost cards out of your discard pile and into your hand) I just steamrolled over the rest of them game and beat the Heart in a few turns.

Poison decks are pretty OP though, especially with Catalyst (triples poison when upgraded). Just get one or two of those cards and lots of block. Once the enemy is poisoned you just turtle up and wait it out.

Mental fortress, rushdown, 1 cost wrath, 1 cost calm. The ability to get your entire deck into your hand. This is pretty boring to play but not that hard to get and is pretty strong. There's more fun watcher stuff, like pulling off an Alpha deck, but that's harder to build.
