Has hockey changed recently? I remember as a kid games were like 5 goals combined

I don't know how old you are but the game has been much more offensive in the last 5-10 years, dead puck era is far gone.

You didn't also highlight how they conceded like 55 goals?

Fortunate for them they play the Flyers next and should be able to get their first win, but damn that is pathetic. I don't watch NHL but can't understand how a team could possibly start a season 0-11.

I grew up watching the trash ass Thrashers lol. I still remember the Dany Heatley saga, in fact the NHL game he was on was the last one I played.

well yeah that would do it, that's even pre-lockout. It definitely was a much more defense oriented game back then, thanks in good part to the Devils. The game is quite different nowadays

A lot of stat padding takes place against them. Play all your players against them in fantasy.

The Oakland A's were really trying to become the worst team in modern MLB history but I don't think they quite got there as they started winning some games at least, even though they finished 50-112. At one point they had more games with 10+ runs given up than wins.

I feel bad for San Jose but can they become the worst modern team? Though I don't know what era "modern" would even be because I am not super familiar with hockey, but they need to outdo those 70s Washington Capitals teams, yeah?

It was two different goalies in those games.

I know in hockey if the G gives up a lot of goals it's custom to swap him out with the backup to limit the abuse, but what do you do when the backup...also has given up a ton of goals?

They tied the record for most consecutive losses to start a season (11 by 1943 New York Rangers, 2017 and 2021 Arizona Coyotes)

Wouldn't matter if they had prime Dominik Hasek in net, they would still get pummeled every night. Their roster is abysmal top to bottom. They don't have any NHL worthy defensemen and their top line would make a solid third line for most teams.
