i think the problem is the other bosses you just beat down and nothing really changes during the fights, sandman felt like a lot of different things at once.

Yeah, I'm not saying the bosses are amazing or anything (that'd be Spider-Man huehuehue), I just think Sandman is the worst one because he's a setpiece more than a boss.

Games like these the opening level is usually the last thing that the team created, so that they have the experience of making the rest of the game, and they front load the beginning with all the goods. Unfortunately that has the side effect of the rest of the game not being as epic.
