What a dumb fucking comment. Whats wrong with a diverse cast? I was happy with Sigma since Dutch characters in gaming can be counted on one hand, let people have their thing.

I don't play Overwatch but I don't understand the people mad at having different cultures in the game. Do they just want 50 white male heroes in the game? Sounds boring

I mean, it is good whether or not the higher ups at Blizzard want it pushed for good reasons. There's only 7 LGBTQ heroes, counting the new guy. The roster beyond that is no more or less diverse than your average fighting game.

Diversity for diversitys sake alone is usually cringe but its not even worth a discussion having with Overwatch. Properties can tend to suffer in quality and it can give fans the impression that diversity was prioritized over having a good story/gameplay/characters. But Overwatch has some of the most impressive character designs and personalities to exist. Even if they do use an algorithm no one can deny that their heroes are impressive. Also the game is just fun as a hero shooter can get, theres still none better.

Second problem is sometimes you dont have the ethnic diversity of a major city in your story....but AGAIN Overwatch features people from all around the world. Oh yeah not to mention everyone is original so they can be painted with any brush they want.

So what if Blizzard wants Mauga to have a subtle ex gay relationship with Baptiste? Because that isnt the first thing I think of when I see him. You got this gung-ho giant of a man that is brimming with enthusiasm and charisma, but you dont ever dare cross him or he will put you six feet under. In the pre-game lobby Baptiste and him have a interaction. Baptiste is like "ohhh this is awkward...you arent still mad at me are you? Actually dont answer that."

But damn Mauga is fun, I tried him out, I was regularly putting out more damage then a Bastion. I was really getting in there and tearing everyone up, even opposing Maugas.

I don't have a problem with diverse casts (so long as the designs are good I dont give a shit one way or the other, and Overwatch characters look cool) but the idea that Blizzard feeds character designs into an algorithm to determine their diversity score will never not be funny to me.

Just imagining a bunch of soulless corporate goons sitting around a table discussing potential directions and someone chiming in "but what did the algorithm say?" >_>

Which they do absolutely nothing with, since the story has not moved an inch since launch. People even poked fun at the "official ages" thing they released a while back, since it showed that Blizzard did not give a fuck about how these characters made sense in the world they created.

I didn't think Blizzard/Overwatch would still have shills in this age.
