That's what I've been wanting since Warcraft 3. Don't care for MMO World of Warcraft and all that other stuff. Give me that RTS style game I've been looking forward to for a long while.

Uuh... not at all? If anything, this was forshadowed at the conclusion of Shadowlands.

All this Titan stuff has been foreshadowed since Vanilla, though. It's gotten a little lost in the weeds over the years, but one of the earliest and most long-standing mysteries of WoW has been about places like Uldaman, the Titans, the Earthen, etc.

Not to mention we've had lots of talk about Azeroth being a world soul for several expansions now, too.

I meant how they sold Shadowlands as "closing the book on the story that started with WC3" and, now, 2 expansions later, saying this is the culmination of everything that started in vanilla. Obviously Shadowlands wasn't "closing the book and starting a new chapter" since we're still dealing with those mysteries. My point was it was a waste of that kind of upsell on the story when they did it to convince people that Shadowlands was going to be good (and to copy FFXIV's marketing going into Endwalker) because now that they're saying the same thing in a slightly different way it isn't nearly as impactful.

I can pretty much note all the possible raids in Classic seasons:

Blackrock Depths
Stratholme
Maraudon
Scarlet Monastery
Zul'Farrak
Sunken Temple

Assuming they only use classic dungeons that are fairly bigger than normal dungeons.

That was always kinda bullshit, but even so, they were referring to the Lich King and whatnot. The Titans were always a totally separate thing, and most of the Titan/Azeroth stuff picked up steam in Classic WoW (about 20 years ago) with Uldaman and its related questlines.

Season of Discovery sounds awesome tbh

Excited to see where they go with it after the initial level 25 cap/BFD raid. Great way to keep people interested, Season of Mastery was awesome but not very popular due to the poor release timing and accelerated leveling so everyone hit max level too quickly

I kind of hope they bring back the scrapper. That worked very well for BFA.

It's such a unique approach, I'm curious about how it will work in the details. Should be a lot of fun to play around with the idea.

Black Rock Depths was basically a low level raid in vanilla.

Most vanilla dungeons were several hour affairs. Wailing Caverns as a mid teens player took all night.

At a fast pace, no. But with a first time group, navigating all the tunnels and finding the right path could take a long time. Not to mention wipes and such.

So season of discovery is basically a backdoor into experimenting with Classic+

absolute mega-W for Blizzard so far, damn

There was nothing good about the scrapper. Those materials you got back were figured into the cost of the craftables so you weren't really 'saving' anything. The way you upgraded stuff was sometimes backward between tiers on top of that.

The way Dragonflight handles item upgrades makes more sense even if it's still hampered by the material's relation to the quality is mumbo jumbo to most of the players.

After reading a breakdown of the classic panel where they went into more detail of SOD Im way more excited for it.

IIRC the reason theyre all so long is they were originally intended as a one-time thing players did

I think people misunderstood the initial announcement, but once it got into details (such as giving paladins Crusader strike) they realized what a huge deal it is.

Warlock tanking has been something I've wanted to see since I started playing this game, I have to admit. Not like the fight or two in it that require a Warlock to ranged tank like Twin Princes in AQ40 or Kael'thas in TK, I mean like straight up "my job in the five-man is to protect everyone" tanking. I hope it turns out well, I really do.

I wonder if well finally get a viable Hunter pet tank spec

A big part of it was just *getting* to the instance portal! Most classes couldn't solo the mobs outside the Deadmines/Scholo/Mauradon etc...

Getting a party was also annoying too. And if someone left, you were kinda fucked.

I kind of liked the whole process of gathering a group, traveling to the dungeon together and fighting your way into it.

You seriously missed out on Dark Apotheosis in late Cata and MoP.

The only thing actually stopping them was their threat generation was crap, but they could do it. I remember picking up a boss with it in MoP when the tank died.

I was there, but DA didn't scratch the very specific tank itch I was hoping to relieve.

Those goddamn motherfucking bastards, making WoW look good and making me want to play it again.

What they really need to do, and he hinted at it, is simply releasing content at a faster pace. They also need to start adding more zones at launch. Dragonflight had 4 zones at launch. They announced 4 zones for this new expansion. Too few. Northrend had 9 for instance.

I haven't played too much of Dragonflight, but I'm still on the WoW subreddit and my impression is that they put out content at a pretty good pace.

And I don't know that it's fair to compare WotLK's zones to more modern ones. You get fewer ones, but they're much higher quality and they usually release more as the expansion goes along now.

I actually kinda want to play Cata classic now that I think about it. that was the first expansion I went casual so I didnt do any of the raids when they were current

welp, I went to level a character for cata classic and my classic server is completely dead. literally 10 people in dalaran

I'll probably just play alliance on the discovery server since I've only ever played horde

Which WotLK server were you on? There are some with huge populations still. Same for Classic Era. But if you're on a small one it does feel pretty lonely.

I'm on Mankrik, and the population is booming.

Ah yeah, my server's a mirror of that. Horde reigns supreme. There are more Alliance alts of Horde players who made them to accomplish PvP objectives than there are actual Alliance players.

i thought they offered free transfers off the dead realms

My WotLK server is Pagle because I prefer PvE, but some of the PvP servers are pretty safe to play on because they're like 99% horde or alliance. Faerlina is a huge horde server, and Benediction is a huge Alliance server with basically no members of the other faction at all.

They did, but I don't know if they still do, and they didn't actually remove the dead servers, so they're still there for players to make characters on and discover are mostly empty.

I never did Dragon Soul when it was current either, but it was awful even soloing it and oneshotting everything. There's just so much fuckin' waiting.
