so they would be revived instantly if they were to die at some later point, even if it can only be used once. Like a bottled fairy in Zelda games.

You only get one wish at a time so unless you're already alive and collect the Dragon Balls someone would have to spend that wish to bring you back.

That said Garlic Jr. successfully completed a wish for immortality in Dead Zone and it carries over to the Garlic Jr./Black Water Mist filler arc in the anime proper so he can't actually be killed, just sealed.
