I bought a soundbar for the first time a few years back, came super cheap with the new TV.

It's incredible. I can never go back to TV speakers. It's not even a fancy one either, normally like $300 (just a bar and a woofer but I got it for like half off with the TV).

For an audiophile yes. To replace woefully bad TV speakers no.

Better than tv speakers. As a home theatre junkie who is heavily into audio and video Ill stop my comments there and leave on a positive note. I havent used tv speakers since the 80s.

TV speakers are all terrible now, due to the form factor of the TV.

A mid-price soundbar will give you a pretty good experience.

My tv doesnt even seem to have its own speakers. My roomate took her surround system to her boyfriends house and we never got my TVs sound to work again. (I had her system when I got my tv and never even tried the sound without it)

Im not sure how 5.1 or 7.1 would work out for me since my living room and dining room are connected so theres a whole extra room the sound would bounce around in

Sound bars are a worthwhile upgrade over TV speakers.

They are also a lot easier to set up, than even a stereo speaker setup, if youre using monitors

Yes some monitors (my main included) do have built in speakers... but uhm they are passable at best, useless at worst... not very good

I definitely see the value.

Well the audio quality is good but I definitely miss the bass from the old system.
