Japanese games might sometimes have nods to Japanese politics. But we just don't pick up on it

It's also very one-sided in what politics are okay. In Modern Warfare II (2022) the literal first thing you do in the game is commit a war crime. No one batted an eye. Abby from TLoU2 has muscles? Real shit.

I mean, a lot of people use that word for "lgbt people existing", but Kiryu in Yakuza is pretty supportive

I saw some people posting that meme and they all got mad at the guy and claimed it was ok for thor to look like that for realism, but not Abby lol

I do like my Japanese games. I haven't played FF, MG or the Yakuza series though.

If you like turn based rpg. Like a dragon is awesome and you can play a Mario kart like minigame and the sequel that will release in a few months got an animal crossing one

If you prefer action. Yakuza 0 is great. There's a LOT of dialogs though

I mean I haven't played them because I've only owned handheld Nintendo consoles. The Switch has some FF and MG but at this point my curiosity about these series has died down.

I probably wouldn't enjoy them anyway. Metal Gear and Yakuza are in genres I don't dabble in and while I do play a lot of RPGs, I hear Final Fantasy is archaic. Learned my lesson sludging through Dragon Quest XI.
