back to Afghanistan on November 1st. They initially announced it on October 3rd, but I don't think they gave a number

Nearly all of refugees bring deported, have left Afghanistan to escape the Taliban. 600k of those were living in Afghanistan since 2021. Pakistan claims they are all undocumented, and that over 2 million undocumented Afghans are living in the country right now. Thousands of Afghan refugees have left l already on their own.

The UN is asking to hold off to avoid human rights violations.

Pakistan is incredibly corrupt, so anything they do is usually under much scrutiny from me tbh

This.

Afghanis had tons of western hardware to confront a small poorly equipped Taliban army, and chose to run rather than fight. Taliban were willing to fight and die to win, so they did.
Ukraine (initially) had far less western equipment and faced hundreds of thousands of troops with tanks, aircraft, artillery, a navy, and everything else. They were willing to fight, and now they'll get to retain their freedom.

That's the way of the world, whether we like it or not. Evils like the Taliban, the mullahs of Iran, Putin, or Hamas don't give up if you just ask nicely. You either rise up against them or fall in line.

The Afghanis had no right to stay in Pakistan indefinitely. If they hate living under the Taliban, they can fight for their freedom. Though it'll be much more difficult than if they had done that in the first place instead of all trying to flee.

Wow imagine blaming Afghans themselves for the US's failure to prop up an unpopular administration. Unsurprisingly coming from the Israel apologist, I guess starving the Palestinian is an act of good too?

I like how you admit the alternative to the Taliban was unpopular and spin that as some kind of "own".
And I'll ignore the last part just as the mods will, since you're apparently free to "Intentionally antagonize other users by being inflammatory, irrelevant, disruptive, or offensive".
Meanwhile if I called it by name what it is, I'd have my post taken down within an hour.

So who decided to start a second in in Iraq again, distracting from fighting the Taliban insurgency?

https://www.theguardian.com/world/2021/aug/12/afghanistan-us-military-analysis-biden-rumsfeld

In the early years, when the Taliban were on the run, the Pentagon, under the defence secretary Donald Rumsfeld, was loth to fund a substantial Afghan force, particularly after the Iraq invasion drew away resources and attention.

Later, when the Taliban had regrouped and struck back, the coalition raced to build the Afghan national security forces (ANSF) comprising army, police and militias on a huge scale, totalling over 350,000 at their peak, cutting corners on training and funding.

Out in the provinces, newly minted police were left to fend for themselves, and many used their authority and guns to squeeze income out of the population. Army officers drew salaries for tens of thousands ghost soldiers, whose names were on the books, but who never materialised.

We economised. We got the ANSF we deserve, Douglas Lute, a three-star army general who served as the Afghan war tsar in the Bush and Obama administrations, said in his lessons learned interview. If we started with the ANSF in 2002-6 when the Taliban were weak and disorganised, things may have been different. Instead we went to Iraq.

Throughout the 20 years of the US war in Afghanistan, it is clear that the ANSFs capabilities were consistently oversold by a succession of US defence secretaries and military commanders, who enthused over progress made.

#1 I think it is the same trick as deporting people here.

It makes the government's neglect of them appear to be legal. It terrorizes the Afghanis so they will work for less

And it wins lots of votes.

What suffers the most is democracy.

BTW US has begun deporting Venezuelans to Caracas.

Unless people are proposing the US or the EU get involved in the middle east (again), the most you're going to get from this is a sternly worded letter from the UN that doesn't propose any solutions and will be promptly ignored.

Either outside countries enforce rule of law, or we have to accept that these countries are going to do whatever they want. You can't have both. This is especially true if you're in the "sanctions only hurt the local populace" crowd that doesn't believe in using economics to force change either.

We spent Trillions of dollars, and sacrificed the lives of thousands of our citizens to oust the Taliban and help the Afghani people form a stable government. All they had to do was except our money, training, and weapons, and use them to fight. But they couldnt do that.

Also because the "government" or authorities we left in were just corrupt pieces of shit installed for monetary benefit, & they also ran to just let structure collapse cause they valued their money more. The USA had no plans to nation build or transfer power, we were just occupying.
