Yeah the story was always nonsensical and I'm honestly surprised there wasn't a big commotion regarding the ending because (imo) it should be the most divisive thing, but then my friend told me that Bayonetta 3 didn't even sell that well and the fanbase is mostly consists of shippers...which probably explains the topic. It's still a niche group of people in a niche group of people though.

Honestly I think the Final Fantasy XIV fanbase is the worst of all with the gay ship shit. Literally every character in existence is claimed to be gay as long as they are least looked at another character of the same sex for longer than a second. The worst part is that they've gone so hard with the ships that they've spread headcanon gay ships as actual facts instead of just headcanon and you will get destroyed if you try to say otherwise. Even when the game's own lore books say characters are not in love. Even when characters already have someone they have feelings for in-game.

For me its less that Bayo likes men (which weve known since the first game) and more that Lukas lame and because of both time travel and how Umbra Witches age, their relationship has grooming undertones.

Anyone getting upset over a fictional characters sexual preferences needs to reevaluate their life choices. It's seriously not important at all and you are stupid for caring this much about it.

As someone that's actually played the games, it did feel like there was more going on between Bayonetta and her dynamic with Jeanne than there was with her dynamic with Luka.

Like in the first game where we find out Bayonetta and Jeanne have known eachother and were close since ancient times, or how in the second game Bayonetta literally goes to the depths of hell to save Jeanne's soul.

All this, plus I'm pretty sure there was actual official art showing Bayonetta and jeanne being naked in bed together or something like that.

people thinking Bayonetta and Jeanne were an item before the third game was not just some random thing that people pulled from their asses.

Like other people said, it just seems to happen when to fictional characters of the same sex are near each other in fiction. Anyway, 1 > 2 > 3 imo, but I have only played 3 on Normal once (whereas I have gotten platinum on every chapter on all difficulties for 1 and 2).

3 may be better than I think it is, but I was not a huge fan of the demon control mechanics on a first go. But I thought the first game was bad the first time I beat it so...

Like at one point it was definitely an open world. Then it wasnt. 90% of the actua important story bits, like the pact between bayo and her summons ending in like 3 days anyway.. were never mentioned once in cutscenes. Instead you just had to find the lore dump in a text file.

its a mess and I bet bayo 4 will just ignore it entirely.

There was a lot of questionable decisions they made with the story regarding Bayo 3 and it's like you said they were just throwing shit on the wall to see what works. Even the gameplay...even though I had a lot of fun with it. I still think Bayo 2 is the best game just purely on gameplay. With that said, I basically zoned out and skipped or zoned out on the cutscenes because it was all typical anime stuff anyways. Bayo 3 is still a 8/10 game, but too bad no one played it lol.
