Anyone going and saying the player intentionally was trying to kick him in the neck with a skate is legit fucking disgusting. This dude is going to have the guilt of being the reason this player died for the rest of his life and chucklefucks on the internet are out there trying to claim he intentionally tried to kick a skate into his neck to kill him. (Confirming anyone who has made this comment has never actually played hockey. Probably some of them never even fucking watched hockey.)

What the actual fuck is wrong with the people making this claim.

it's not the first time he's done it.

He may have had a bad habit to try to trip people during a hit but equating that to intentionally kicking someone in the throat with a skate blade to KILL SOMEONE them is two entirely fucking different things.

Well I guess that's just what investigations are for then now aren't they.

Are many people saying that he intentionally tried to slit someone's throat with his skate? I can't see any in this topic at a quick glance. I've seen far more comments (in this topic and outside it) that it was unsafe and avoidable.

There's like multiple layers of foul play and intent that you (and Sheen in the other topic) seem to be purposely blurring for some shitty reason.

-He throws his leg up because he's a habitually toxic foul player (with the stats and penalties to support it).
-He throws his leg up because he was planning to murder the other player (?).
-He's black so anyone trying to pin this as a murder (intentionally or otherwise) is racist (?).

And then I guess there's the few "hockey/skating experts" that want to write this off as a freak accident, but if there's already a second clip of this, forgive me for being skeptical.

I dont know about the UK laws, but in most US states, he could absolutely be charged with negligent involuntary manslaughter if it could be proven that he intended to stick his leg out to illegally block Johnsons path.

Murder has to be intentional to be murder, so, yes, anybody trying to paint this as actual murder clearly has some kind of agenda.

Mostly meant for people incorrectly using murder as involuntary manslaughter.

Apparently even implying the latter is "trolling" on this board.

Its not really that simple, when it comes to sports. Legal experts from all over have been weighing in saying that in order for somebody to be charged in a case like this, it needs to be seen as them having committed an act that blatantly goes above and beyond what typically happens in a normal game. Its not as simple as well that was a penalty, because if those kinds of moves are still common to the sport and are ONLY treated as penalties/fouls/whatever, then it doesnt reach the above and beyond status.

Its why, for example, a helmet to helmet hit in football resulting in a death wouldnt be charged, without egregious circumstances, but a player taking their helmet off to club another player could be.

In this case, the consensus seems to be that even if you assume he aimed to trip the guy, that tends to fall under the umbrella of being something that just happens in the game. Whereas had they been like, fighting, or if he did intentionally kick for the neck, thatd be different.

Not even his teammates are blaming the player who accidentally hit him. Maybe you armchair conspiracy theorists should take a step back and shut the fuck up.

It doesn't have to be deliberate to be reckless, just as a drunk driver doesn't have to intentionally swerve into oncoming traffic to kill someone. If he has a reputation of violating rules put into play for player safety and his violation eventually kills someone, then he should be held responsible.
