Another 70 year old dude struggled to handle only the coffee 1/2 aisle in a shift but had been there for so long he made $30+/hr. That's the only gripe I have with unions - the best CANNOT climb and the worst CANNOT be fired/pay cut. This somehow trickles down a lot of the things that these unions fought for go towards the non union folks as well because otherwise everyone would transfer. I don't fully understand it, but I'm getting a lot of benefits without needing to pay union dues. --- I don't believe in belts. And I have to wonder what kind of insane dues he was being charged if it dropped his hourly wage to below minimum. I just started at a Midwest grocery store. Starting pay was $17/hr and union dues are $10/week. I'm only working about 25 hours a week and taking out the dues would, it theory, put me around $16.50/hr. --- The ball is round, the game lasts 90 minutes. That's fact.
