People say, How can a young person go into their schoolhouse and open fire on their classmates? Johnson asked the audience. Because weve taught a whole generation a couple generations now of Americans, that theres no right or wrong, that its about survival of the fittest, and [that] you evolve from the primordial slime. Why is that life of any sacred value? Because theres nobody sacred to whom its owed. None of this should surprise us.

This fucks never correctly grasp the concept of "survival of the fittest".

Also, there apparently isn't a world where morals exist outside of the imaginary man in the sky telling you what's right and wrong.

Funny how almost no first world countries has a mass shooting problem like we do in the states and yet there are people in America who unironically still claim that the best way to combat mass shootings is with more guns. It only proves that we have a gun worshipping culture problem here in America.

This is such horse crap, and I say that as a lifelong Christian. I categorically reject the unbelievably stupid idea that you have to be a Christian to be a moral person. Some of the most fantastic people I know are not Christian-Including my Brother and my Mom-and I personally know some Christians who wouldnt know right from wrong under any circumstance.

According to Yahoo today, Johnson also said the appropriate response to the shooting in Maine is prayer. Again: ridiculous. I sit in church every Sunday and pray for peace to prevail here and abroad. Then I leave church and support causes that push gun control. Because action is required, and thoughts and prayers are not going to get it done.

How about we start by demanding that our leaders shrug off the GOP pushed constraints of the ridiculous/disastrous Heller decision and we ban assault rifles that can kill large groups in seconds?

I am absolutely going to pray for the people of Maine tonight, but moral people of every faith, creed and background need to do much more. Action on our part is required.

And: piss off MAGA Mike. A supporter of the coup and a traitor to the country, just like the rest of them.

Yeah, saying you have to be religious to have morals is like saying you need to be an atheist to have reason.

A big problem we have is treating the Republican Party and ideology as valid. It's not valid. It hasn't been for a long time. People that sign onto or support this are bad. They are extremists. People buck against that idea because they know people who vote Republican, because there's tens of millions of them, and because they don't want to acknowledge the implications of that. But that's the reality, and it needs to be addressed head on. A process of understanding how millions of people ended up this way, of offering a real alternative from the left, and of deradicalization must happen on a national, state, and local level.
