An account on the social media platform X with Cards name and a photo that appears to be him, which has been taken offline, had a history of liking right-wing and Republican political content.

The account liked a tweet earlier this year from right-wing author and filmmaker Dinesh DSouza arguing against an assault weapons ban, as well as other tweets from political figures like Donald Trump Jr. and Tucker Carlson.

This isn't the first time Tucker Carlson's name has come up after a mass shooting.

Destroy the NRA. Seize all of its assets, arrest its leadership, fine every politician who took their money. Dump the funds into social programs and mental health services.

As the night falls, they'll probably use FLIR (thermal imaging) cameras to scan the forests.

I've been to Maine this time of year, and he's going to have to do something that will create a heat profile to get through the night. If he's still alive.

Blaming mental health is stupid. Im a confirmed diagnosed schizophrenic. I have never once thought about shooting random people in the streets or even people I dislike. This is a case of bad people being bad people.

PTSD, anxiety disorder, bipolar disorder here bud, and I never want to hurt another human being like this guy did. Number 1 priority is protecting my wife and kids. I support the second amendment as I think it's important to protect your loved ones and home, but in all honesty, we do not need assault rifles. What people like him do, sets the right back 10 fold.

Im pro responsible gun ownership as well but I dont think assault rifles are the issue here. If they were the Czech Republic (Only other country with US style gun laws) would have mass shootings all the time.

We need way stricter background checks. Theres no reason a guy who was in a mental health facility less than a year ago should have had access to a pea shooter, never mind a full ass semi.

I'm not disagreeing with you, bud. I'm more than self aware. That's why I do not have a fire arm in the house. My "breaks" aren't violent in nature though. It's more like going into a corner in a fetal position and freezing. Not literally. I breathe so fast, get dizzy, my thoughts become clogged like I can't think, it's like an uncontrollable fear that over shadows you. My wife and kids are safe. If I thought I was a threat to them, I wouldn't be around them. Even though I know better and still don't own a fire arm that doesn't mean I'm against people defending their families should a time ever arise.

so, lets remove the non starter of abolishing the 2nd cause that is never going happen.

Instead put in a federal gun license, use the license to carry programs as your baseline with multi hour mandatory safety training. All previous LTC owners are grandfathered in, and the license is required to purchase and own firearms.

I'm not saying your solutions are wrong, because I like restrictions and licensing and red flag laws. But you're not going to get those if you don't understand they're going to be a compromise of rights and privileges of gun owners.

Ya there was a situation where a young girl was held for ransom in my area, and the cops had her house on watch, and then his, once he doxed himself.
Maybe Maine doesn't have the resources.

This shit traumatizes whole communities.

I'm not opposed to restrictions but any time or fee based licensure that you place gun ownership behind will disproportionately and negatively affect poor and working class people, which happens to be the demographic who are most likely to need a firearm to use for self defense.

The same with red flag laws, these won't work the way you want them to. How many times do rich assholes get away with any number of crimes because they can afford to hire a high priced lawyer who can get them a sweet plea deal? Rich people who should lose their guns to red flag laws won't while the demographics most likely to need them will.

Another good example of this disarming a group more likely to be in need of a defensive firearm would be the Trans community. Whom a chunk of the population wants to commit violence against solely because they exist. Gender Dysphoria is still classified as a mental disorder and chuds will absolutely push for them to fall under red flag laws.

Like I said, I'm not opposed to gun ownership restrictions, but it's not simply a matter of picking a line and placing gun ownership behind it because of how deeply broken and unequal our society is as it relates to race, class, and other minorities.
