Those who lived there should be able to reclaim their lands in Germany, but no to others that isn't involved.

I found out recently they thought about giving them a portion of Alaska. That might have been best. There is alot of land that isn't inhabited, but could be developed.

Alaska's a bleak cold place being given that place would have been a punishment....

They should have gotten Kaliningrad instead of the Russians.

Southern Alaska isn't too bad. The part that is really harsh is further north

Most Jews were living in Poland. It wasn't good for them there under the Russian Empire, it was worse under the Nazis (went from 3.3 million in Poland to 10% of that) and then it only continued to be bad under the Soviets. Jews were done with Europe. Not that the way the British handled Israel was good, but they certainly weren't interested in trying their chances with a people that still largely hated them. And there are still plenty of Europeans that hate them to this day.

I doubt that would have ever been made as a serious offer, because after WWII Uncle Sam was extremely reluctant to admit Jewish refugees from Europe.

In the United States, between 1945 and 1952 only about 16,000 Jewish displaced persons (DPs) were admitted under the Truman Directive and another 68,000 under the two Displaced Persons Acts. (The first Act wasn't signed until June 1948; by that time, 222,000 Jews had been sitting in DP camps in the US zones of Germany and Austria for about a year. Fast work, guys!)

In fact it had been hard enough to push even this measure through Congress and the Senate. Congress had had to be reassured that 80% of DPs were Christians so that it didnt grumble too much about the Truman Directive; it didnt want too many visas handed out to Jews. Truman himself condemned the restrictionist provisions of the Wiley-Rivercomb Bill when he reluctantly signed it on June 25, 1948 as "flagrantly discriminatory" and "anti-semitic". Several provisions had been purposely designed to exclude Jewish DPs, and the ADL demanded the Bill be vetoed.

Lobby groups in the States thundered about Britains humanitarian duty to open the floodgates of Palestine to Jewish refugees and castigated Arab intransigence. A contingency plan was even drawn up by General John H. Hildring at the Pentagon for a massive refugee transport operation from Europe to Palestine. Yet when it came to the prospect of substantial numbers of refugees coming to Americas own shores, her lawmakers were careful to make sure Liberty held up a JEWS NOT WANTED (much) sign.

I think conquering, and ethnostates/religious states are always bad ideas. Also if punishment is the foremost goal rather then justice, reform, repairations etc you are only thinking of vengeance not actually making the world better even though Nazi's deserve nothing but suffering.

Also how the fuck would that have even worked? Relocating all the germans? Enshrining Jews as a superior ruling class? Genociding the Germans? Like what way could you give a whole state to another people with mutual hatred of each other without setting the stage for conflict or atrocities? If the Germans were told they were having their state taken and being relocated do you think they would've just peacefully gone along with it? If they got relocated do you think an angry Germany just might try a Fourth Reich in the future?

The population of the Allied occupation zones in western Germany was roughly 50 million people after the end of the war. You forcibly displace 50 million people (never mind the physical impossibility of cramming them into an area 141 square miles in size), and you are creating a decades-long nightmare with consequences that would make the Israel-Palestine conflict look like a storm in a teacup.

How about we just say NO to ethnostates.

i'm prolly wrong on this, but didn't the soviets occupy half of germany? the soviets would have had to agreed to the jewish population taking germany, and i dunno if they would have.

At the Yalta conference, Stalin persuaded the western democracies to give a rubber stamp of approval to a process that was already under way by the end of the war in Soviet-occupied Europe -- the forcible expulsion of of ethnic German minorities from Poland, Romania, Czechoslovakia, Hungary, and Yugoslavia (which cost around 1.2 million Germans their lives) -- but I doubt he'd have wanted to almost completely empty the east German occupation zone and replace its population with a few million Jews. (And that's assuming that millions of Jews would choose to migrate to a Soviet puppet state.)
