We've seen a whole lot of superhero stuff over the last couple of decades. So many heroes introduced and grown in popularity in the mainstream. We've seen these heroes all crossover and team up too and a huge focus on interconnected universes in the last 15 years especially.

But honestly...I still just like Spider-man and Batman doing their own thing most of all with their own sets of characters in their home cities more than anything else. X-Men deserve to be there too. Of course I'm a bit biased overall. I grew up with these characters. It's also an unfair advantage because these characters have significantly more stories and content out there.

But still. I don't overly care about more seeing more Iron Man. EA is making an Iron Man game and I know I'm not gonna care about it as much as the recent Spider-man games even if it's just as good. I go to a theme park where I go through Wayne Manor and the Batcave and that's a more exciting to me than the Hall of Justice. Most of the MCU heroes are like this for me.

Yes I also know Spider-man, Batman and the X-Men have also crossed over with the other stuff throughout their history but you know what I mean. These stories stand on their own in a way that most of the others don't so the crossover stuff is more of a bonus.

In a way I wonder if it's a consequence of the cinematic universe. Is there a demand for a Captain Marvel cartoon? Or are characters like her just seen as one member of a bigger cast? I suppose there's also not much to get invested in when sequels to these movies are years apart and that the villains for most of the movies are rather weak or forgettable.

Everything going to Infinity War and Endgame was a great journey. But now that it's done I don't really find these connected stories and the like all that exciting anymore. I'm playing Spider-man 2 on the PS5 and I can't help but feel more connected to it than almost everything else in the last decade. It's no different with the Spider-man and Batman movies as I feel more connected to those too. In a way I'm part of the problem and I get that. But I'm not really seeing anything overly exciting from anything else. With a big problem being that Spider-man and Batman already given those kinda stories and I'm more invested in them.

I will give credit to Guardians of the Galaxy though. Overall that does feel more distinct as its own thing with a lot of potential for lots of stories and adventures. But personally I like the more localized stories of Spider-man and Batman.
