She was a very sweet individual. She was a very friendly and cheerful sort of person. I knew that she wasn't doing well. I knew that she was experiencing complications from a surgery. But she died two weeks ago and I only just found out about it today.

It was a real curveball. Death is commonplace in the ER. I guess somehow I had it in my head that it was something that happened to the patients and not the staff. I know better than that. She's the second coworker that we've lost in the six months that I've been there. Though the other one I only met once.

I thought she was on sick leave. I didn't receive an email or anything. Maybe I did and I missed it somehow. Actually, she died while I was on vacation. Her passing was probably mentioned in the hospital's daily newsletter and I deleted it without reading it because it was several days old by the time I had a chance to read it.

She was such a nice person. I just hate to see that.
