He didn't lie and say he was a lawyer who had passed the bar in Alabama because Jerry Gallo hadn't passed the bar in Alabama. The lie was so the Judge could verify that he was an experienced trial lawyer. The court expressly allowed out of State lawyers who hadn't pass the bar in Alabama as long as the judge in the case allowed it. See the distinction? Vinny himself would never have gotten the approval of the Judge, not because he hadn't passed the bar in Alabama but because he was fresh out of school, a completely fresh lawyer who had no trial experience. It's a different situation completely from Trumps lawyers, Trumps lawyers can't even try to get approval, they need to pass the bar to represent Trump in that court due to the rules of that court.
