i have literally never heard of a manhattan accent in my life, so imma guess its some weird thing like 40 ppl in manhattan insist on, like how new haven connecticut insists it has the best pizza in the country

By American accent, do you mean the Philadelphia, NYC, Boston, Delaware, and New Jersey accents? Or are you referring to the Long Island, Vermont, Bucks County, Georgia, and North/South Carolina accents? Or maybe the Miami, Louisiana, Kentucky, Alabama, and San Francisco accents?

Actually no, you might mean the Puerto Rican, Spanglish, AAVE, hillbilly, bayou, and Valley Girl accents actually.
