The latter fight being one you are meant to lose, but winning gets you extra DP. Azure has a few of those.

Farming sepith in Azure is the easiest for all trails games for me. Dont need to even fight shiny poms. I just farm the black bees in West Crossbell Highway. Near your car to recharge CP, Noel and Wazy use their combination craft with the sepith bonus. Usually pretty easy to finagle one of them to have the bonus. Though the problem with farming in later games isnt sepith, its umats...

Ok. Finished with Orchis Tower. Now onto the final dungeon, I hope. Maybe a little later.

Ok made it to the first checkpoint in the final dungeon. I'll give it a rest today and finish it off tomorrow

When I was playing Azure I got really annoyed with the interlude chapter. The chapter before had stuff building up and then it's like "Let's go to the beach!"

That chapter went on for way too long and there's so much content that you literally cannot see without massive save scumming or looking it up on youtube and then the house of the dead minigame is the worst thing ever. It was definitely not a great moment in the game for me.

Ugggh... I loved Azure, but between getting the DP from the Sigmund fight and doing the same with the later fight with Arianrhod(Seriously, i dont think i have had any other fight in this series annoy me quite as much as she did)... Just aaaah

But enjoy the final boss and i guess onwards to Cold Steel afterwords

I heard Azure was better than Zero, but I really did like Zero a lot. Some genuine surprises. I had played Azure for a chapter or two and then lost my save data.

I am just burned out on the Trails series. Cold Steel was too long but it certainly had its highs.

I didn't bother with Arianrhod. I started to, was chipping away using 1500~ dmg S breaks, then she ran into a healing turn and it undid like 20 minutes of progress and I was like nah fuck this.

I'd come better prepared on new game+ but I'm gonna move straight into the Hedgeheg game.

The strategy for Arianrhod is simple. you can even use this strategy for guaranteed success on most other bosses as well.

Arianrhod will always use her s-break within the first 3 turns, the first turn after her mask comes off, and a final time near death. So you can predict when to use Zero Field
lloyd is going to be built as a dodge tank, and will drag Arianrhod to the corner far away from your squishy mages to protect them from random AOE.
tio is there to buff Ellie and stop arianrhods s-break
wazy is there to buff Ellie and occasionally do a little damage of his own
Ellie should be built as a glass cannon. Pure speed and ATS. Shes going to spam nothing but that one lightning spell non-stop. It will do like 5-7K damage from memory. She will run out of MP, have Tio and Wazy continually feed her whenever they arent buffing her

this is the guaranteed win strategy for most bosses in the game

I didn't have the kagemaru hoari and you can't buy it at that point in the game. Without it you can't do the dodge tank method.

Like I said I'd come better prepared next time, but I'm not gonna have a next time for a while as I want to keep moving forward until I finish the series to date.

You can adjust. I think its possible to build a character to tank arianrhods hits, so you just tank traditionally instead of dodge tanking. Ive never tried this though and it will be slower if you dont rely on Lloyd healing himself with items

OH thats what i did, Just Arianrhod didn't always like to cooperate and would randomly just decide to use her little dashing lance attack to just escape the corner and start beating on the casters for a turn until Lloyd would quickly run over and start pulling her of them again, Really the only way i managed to beat it was malicious abuse of Tio's S-Craft, Evasion Tank Llyod, and well, a Crap tone of items including alot of good CP Restoring food items

CS4 has a few boss fights akin to that. One is Arianrhod and Osborne.

Arianrhod isn't as intimidating as she seems. She's very tanky but she's not *that* difficult.

It's not so much an issue of difficulty as it is time. It's like beating the demi fiend all over again except slightly less random.

My Steam time (a lot of time spent idling) shows:
FC: 50 hours
SC: 70 hours
3rd: 35 hours

You can probably shave at least another 5-10 hours total off all that stuff.

The reason why 3rd was so fast was probably because the mini games are one-and-done type deals. There's no fishing all over zemuria for hours on end. FC doesn't have it either but I was still learning the ropes.

Zero, for example, took me less than 50 hours to complete despite being like twice as big as TITS FC.

same experience for me, but, I think my shorter playtime for the Sky trilogy is because I didnt talk to every NPC yet. I talked to a bunch, but starting with Zero I talked to every single NPC after every single story event and this skyrocketed my hours per game into the 100-200 range. It slows down even more in the cold steel saga since when its 3d it slower to move around and whatnot

One of my favorite series I've played in recent years. Looking forward to seeing your reactions on future titles as well!

Gonna knock out the rest of the final dungeon tomorrow. Or later today I guess.

Anyway. Looking forward to starting Trails of the Hedgeheg next year.

on a side note the CS games are on avg longer then the previous ones esp depending on how thorough u are and some technically require a 2nd playthrough to see tho it's usually a NG+ only boss and azure has that too however CS 2 DOES have a special scene if u collect all of something that only appears in NG+ however the contents of this scene are revealed early in 3

Man looks like the Cold Steel crew goes through some shit. The banner for the first game is like everyone is all happy and smiling, then in the second game the banner is like "yo what the fuck is this shit" then in the third game it's like "we about to have a fight" and in the 4th game dude's hair is white, eyes are red, giant mecha in the background like "I must kill everything"

Your efforts continue be awe-inspiring. I like the series, but after chugging through them like this I would definitely need a break. They are just waaay too dense for me to burn through them all.

I am taking small breaks I just don't document them in this thread. On 12/29 I basically played Dragon Slayer V all day.

It has also led me to the realization that Falcom has been hiding rewards in obscure locations & timing requirements for like 35 years.

That's fair, but even then that isn't near enough of a break for me. Like, I did Trails in the Sky + SC back to back and afterwards didn't get to 3rd for a good two months despite going into it all wanting to do them back to back. And after Cold Steel III I took off a good year just because of how little time I had between II and it.

I've already booted up Cold Steel 1 to get any unforseen technical issues out of the way. Seems like my 8BitDo controller will flat out not work at all with it so I'm gonna have to dig out an Xbox controller.

I believe TC also said he's not doing everything and talking to all the NPCs every time. Most of the density in these games comes from NPC dialogue that changes after every single story beat for extra world building.

I just want to say I'm trudging through Kuro 2 and if we're talking sheer length, this game seems long as shit. I thought Reverie was long, but I'm almost certain I'll eclipse 100 hours in this game.
