Dont forget that some of those countries have more influence over the coats movements than others, in many cases while also requiring a disproportionate amount of resources (donated from the others) to maintain.

Nothing really changes. Every state and resource still has a role to play in the global economy.

A unitary state would be cool though.

No as nobody can survive on their own. The states rely on Uncle Sam or else they're fucked. Texas thinks it can be free but, it'd end up a 3rd world hellhole and the people'd beg to be back in the US.
