It's good, mind you. But I've grown too accustomed to the taste of the fake stuff. So go ahead and hand me that Log Cabin, Butterworth's, and the syrup formerly known as Jemima.

The real stuff is so much better. Once I went real, the fake stuff almost makes me sick. I'd rather not have breakfast at all, if I have to use fake.

Same. The real stuff technically has more flavor but I don't think it's a flavor I much care for. Slightly bitter. I'll just stick with the sugar goo for now. It's worked for 30 years so far.

I can't stand the taste of real maple syrup

I much prefer real syrup. It is thinner and gets absorbed better plus it has a better flavor, imo.

My uncle makes and sells the real stuff all over Michigan.

You just cant compare it to the fake stuff. Its so much better.

But the price prohibits many people from using it regularly.

Both are fine as long as you're using them with blueberry or raspberry syrup, since those do like 90% of the work anyway. Especially if its blueberry syrup made with real blueberries, sweet jesus.

Real or fake I don't really like syrup and always opt to skip it.

I didn't realize that fake syrup was a thing as a kid, but once I tried the real stuff there's no comparison. Also, weirdly, I would use honey instead of syrup as a kid.

I don't eat waffles at all and I don't really like pancakes much either but if I do eat a small pancake I would just use butter.

My issue with the fake stuff is that it doesn't absorb, unless you let it sit there for awhile. It just kinda... Sits on top of the waffle/pancake/whatever, whereas the real stuff absorbs straight into it. Thus, the fake stuff causes a clear texture difference. You bite through this thick, goopy, sugary texture, and then get the regular pancake/waffle texture. It's just so weird.

We (Americans) have skewed our tastebuds with so much added sugar and salt IMO. I was raised on the fake stuff but real syrup has so much more flavor. Plus there's a big difference between the many varieties of real syrup.

Haha, no. I don't ever eat waffles and I'm not a big fan of pancakes either though I can occasionally eat them. If I were to have a pancake they need to be small, like silver dollar pancakes and only use butter on them.

real syrup is too sweet and too expensive for slathering on pancakes and such. best lightly mixed into the industrial crap we consume to give it an authentic edge.

Actually, I'll admit to being wrong. Real syrup does have more (natural) sugar than fake syrup.

It's just that fake syrup has anywhere between 6-10x the sodium. That's the big difference.

not too familiar with the specifics of content, really just going by taste. real syrup does taste better though.
