We listened to an audio reading of the title short story a couple days ago, but I think we might listen to a couple other based on the episode titles.

Though I know I'm gonna enjoy it, I hope it's closer to Hill House.

First episode was pretty good, has good pacing and some good actors in it.

since Flanagan likes to continue working with actors from his previous works (most of the cast are from his other Netflix shows, and the granddaughter is from Doctor Sleep), I wonder which of them will be cast in The Dark Tower.

Hyped to start later tonight. Seems to be a massive critical success. Every negative fan review Ive read has whined about diversity on some level so Im sure its good.

Probably is as good or better than another of his highly rated showed based on reviews thus far, yes.

I don't get why *heavy spoilers for episode 4* the drug abusing, video game son had to die. maybe I wasn't paying too much attention, but with the others who died, their actions could have hurt a lot of people, or certain people in significant ways, but the worst thing I saw him do was cheat on his boyfriend (which is bad, but shouldn't call for a death sentence).

also, the others received some kind of warning/chance to stop, but he didn't.

Tone is close to Bly Manor and Hill House, maybe even a bit more brutal. I haven't watched Midnight Mass but my wife did and she said it was quite different from the first two series.

Midnight Mass is amazing. Damn shame episode 2-4 are such agonizingly slow burns though. Get past that and your in for some great shit.

well let's not forget that he possibly killed his boyfriend's cat while he was on a drug binge.

i know it's not comparable to what his other siblings have done but fuck him, he's still a prick! lol

It's kind of so-so.

I finished episode 6 last night. My complaint is that it counts be scarier and the deaths could be more horrific. Still intriguing mystery.

Up to episode 4 so far and its amazing.

The end of episode 2 was one of the more horrific things I've seen lately. You know its coming, but damn. Like something from a nightmare.

final episode definitely lived up to the title: we literally saw the fall of the house of Usher. >_>

jokes aside tho, it was a good show overall!

btw, Mark Hammil's character gave me some strong Mike Erhmantraut vibes. lol

Just finished it. Flanagan is one of the best content creators around. Good stuff.

We finished it last night also, Might be pretty close to Hill House for me, I liked this a lot. I was a bit of an Edgar Allan Poe dork in middle school because I thought girls would like it so I kinda remembered the story.

The weakest part so far has been Roderick Usher. Dude is a terrible actor. I understand they had to reshoot Roderick's scenes due to an actor change but man, this dude really didn't bring it.

I finished last night and the ending is really solid. It honestly pulls the series together. I think overall though it's definitely lower on my Flanagan list.

Dude shows no emotional range throughout the entirety of the show so far. He never seems sad, scared, happy, angry etc. He just has one leveled performance. Meanwhile the younger version of the character showcases all of those emotions in like every scene lol

It seems like he's doing a table read for the most part, which I get because he was brought on last minute. Iirc the original actor was filmed and all then they cut him due to sexual harassment claims. They had to reshoot every scene involving Roderick with the new actor which isn't the best of circumstances to walk into. But his performance seems really emotionless. And not in a "he's a sociopathic business oligarch" type of way.
