Yeesh.

Through it all, the company eschewed the traditional TV-making model. It didnt commission pilots but instead shot entire $150 million-plus seasons of TV on the fly. It didnt hire showrunners, but instead depended on film executives to run its series. And as Marvel does for its movies, it relied on postproduction and reshoots to fix what wasnt working.

Should probably stop cutting corners tbh

Good, better for them to scrap it than to shit on yet another ip. For once, a good move by this company.

Well, to be fair. He barely wore the costume in the Netflix show too.

But good that this will be fixed.

I just hope we see the version that was scrapped. I'm hoping for an x-men origins wolverine pre cgi leak because seeing that was hilarious.

The cracks had been showing in the streaming game have been showing for awhile but they are really starting to widen as of late.

Like at one point I predicted that there would be an inevitable collapse of the streaming business and that only a few of the biggest services would survive. I always assumed D+ would be one of them. Now I'm less sure.

Honestly, the seasons he didnt wear the costume were the best, those being 1 and 3. Season 2 was weak after the Punisher was taken down, and Defenders was just dull.

Agreed, but don't blame it on the suit. =p
I chalk it up to the portrayal of The Hand just not being interesting enough, especially when both Kingpin and Punisher were amazing antagonists.

I have no idea how they weren't using showrunners or planning multiple seasons

Like, their TV division had no showrunners or TV-specific executives

It's fucking mindblowing lol

This is why they raised the prices, probably.

Maybe they should just keep the Netflix shows cannon and make the defenders the "edgy +18" MCU shows. Most of them, other than Iron Fist and the Defenders, were actually really good. Especially Daredevil's Season 1 and 3 (season 2 was great with Punisher, but they fumbled hard with the Hand). Hell, Iron Fist was becoming a better show by season 2.

It really is, but explains so much. All those first strong seasons followed by mediocrity.

But sources say that Corman and Ord crafted a legal procedural that did not resemble the Netflix version, known for its action and violence. Cox didn't even show up in costume until the fourth episode.

Imagine waiting 4 episodes lmao

The should have done season 4 right after season 3 was released and #1 on Netflix, instead of cancelling it.

Not really that crazy. The shows aren't episodic like a typical television series. They were basically done as feature films which were then split into 6 or so episodes. So it makes sense they didn't have a show runner before because they never intended them to have multiple seasons.

Some of them for sure had multiple seasons planned. Loki for instance.

That being said, even a mini series have a creative running the show from start to finish. Not a suit.

Explains why most are so mediocre too. They don't leverage the strength of the TV format at all.

They do have creatives in charge but that's not the same as an official "show runner," complete with "show bible."

I'm not "simping" at all, actually. You're using the word wrong, firstly.

Secondly, where did I say it was "working?" If you can't follow along the you should stay out of the conversation while adults talk.

Hope not. About half of the seasons for those shows were also mediocre. Sometimes it felt like I was back to a time watching superhero stuff that was ashamed of being superhero stuff.
