This WOULD explain why my GSP with him being in the 98.5th percentile, but I'm getting bodied by the second round of every tournament I've ever played.

Looks about right. Every time my girlfriend complains about Cloud's recovery I just shake my head. For one thing your character is busted, for another Falcon's recovery is arguably worse, at least Cloud can threaten to trade stocks.

Mii Brawler is too low. Has zero-death true combos (which require specific stage position/layout, but not uncommonly specific) or DI mixups on a ton of characters and no glaring weaknesses other than a lack of disjoints. Probably better than Mario.

Cloud is very significantly too high. Just because Spargo is really good with him doesn't make him a top 10 character. He should be down around where Shulk is (and Shulk should be at least a few spots higher, assuming this is about character potential; Shulk is just even more technical than Peach to play perfectly, but has a lot of the same cheater-level stuff that Steve does like on-demand invincibility, combo-breaking, cancelling all endlag of any aerial, etc.). Cloud has some counterplay to camping in "charge limit hurr durr", but it doesn't actually get him through gyro or block wall or all the other campy BS in the game. He has pretty limited options in neutral and kind of just spams nair and bair a bunch, and he has an exploitable recovery.

PAC-MAN seems several spots low and should probably be around where Cloud is now. Oppressive and safe gameplan that is very hard for a ton of characters to deal with, almost impossible to stop recovery, and a slightly weaker version of Steve's BS "random diamond sword fsmash lul" with his absurdly strong and fairly fast smash attacks.

There are a few other small tweaks I'd make, but those are the ones that come to mind first.

Warms my heart to see Sonic so high up after he was basically trash in Brawl.

One of the biggest achievements of SSBU is how pros figure out how to make non-upper tier characters work with legit success.

I have never seen a game with such a diverse set of characters winning tournaments so consistently.

The sword is super slow and laggy. Good players won't be hit by it and if you misd you'll be punished heavily.

I guess I just suck at smash.

It's slow but it just takes one mistake on your part to lose a stock. Meanwhile you have to get that motherfucker to like 120% before he'll ever consider flying more than 5 feet.

The way they label these tiers is dumb. Having so many characters in each tier makes no sense when you have to split them up to indicate there are characters in that tier that are better or worse than everyone else.

There's like 90 characters in the game, how else would you do it? You put so many characters in the same tier to show that they're comparable. The order in one tier often doesn't matter much, a lot of people say their lists are unordered for this reason.

That looks about the same compared to other Smash tier lists.

Then there doesn't have to be a top tier+ and - if they're comparable. There's clearly a separation so they are either all top tier or people in top tier- become high tier and everyone below them drops a tier too.

Steve's actually top-top tier? I haven't kept up with competitive Ultimate at all, but he's probably my least favorite character to play as.

Yes. Steve is banned from tournaments because of how broken he is. It's not just the fact that all of their skills (ranged, crafting, recovery, etc) are OP, but he also has a bug with his recoil animation that can break combos. The game's not getting any more balance patches, and that last exploit was the one that made him finally get removed from competitive play.

Fuck no. She's ass in this game, she's slow as fuck, light and floaty. Her lloid mine is a much worst version of Snake's c4 because you can't blow the c4 up but you can lloid mine and you take damage if you're nearby. Fishing rod gets beat by shield and she can struggle taking stocks sometimes, I've seen high level isabelle players struggle killing. Oh and her grab is super slow. While Steve is slow his combo game, kill power, blocks and minecart make him a pretty damn good character.

Speaking as a pathetic old fogey whose brain is still stuck in Melee mode, I like the high rankings of my longtime mains (Peach, Pikachu, and Ness) and the low ranking of Kirby, who was always the character that bad / inexperienced players thought was good (which would add to my enjoyment when I mopped the floor with them).

The only relatively-new character I started getting attached to was Villager for some reason, but I can understand a low ranking since their moves are very gimmicky and hard to time properly.

I didn't realize you were just arguing semantics. So it would've made you happy for them to call top tier (-) and such something else? Yeah there's a clear separation of the (+) and (-) tiers, so what? If they didn't do that they would just have to come up with a different name for those tiers or there would be even less tiers which definitely wouldn't make sense. But that separation is there for a reason, the characters in the tier above are supposed to be clearly better.

This is misinformation btw, Steve has only been banned from a handful of majors and some number of locals.

He's banned in rise and shine this weekend
