Board 8 > Anybody familiar with Android tablets?

I have a Galaxy Tab A8 and am wholly underwhelmed with its performance. I know it's a budget tablet, but I was hoping to at least get decent performance on basic application switching, but this thing lags all over the place.

Is there a more under the radar option that may have better performance? I don't care about playing games on it or anything, or even being on a plan l. I'm pretty much just using it for streaming and reading comics, so really I'm just looking for good storage and speed.
