Its supposed to be a cheerful tune about traveling the world, seeing new sights, and reuniting with old friends. But to me, its a painful reminder of how lonely and miserable the road is. Its a never-ending journey of leaving behind everything I love, facing the unknown, and longing for home. Just the music of course, because my first memories of the song are from before I knew what anything he was saying meant. As it happens, it's not exactly a sad song... the lyrics (which I only first read today) are about being crazy in love. I started the song before typing this and paused at 42 seconds because I felt tears coming on. My mom's still alive and well, but that particular song reminds me of being a little kid and riding in the car with her. She raised me mostly by herself and we spent a lot of time together, and thinking of those old times makes me wish times were simpler again, and it's a reminder that, because so much time has passed, my time with her is running out.
