The AfD came second in the polls, with ~20%. The pic above shows a breakdown by age category. In all age groups other than 60+, the blue AfD had support

I'm kinda ashamed of my generation tbh. I thought we were better than this, and I never expected that the boomers would save us

That's really troublesome
Hopefully there's a political movement that trends away from that

I fear it's gonna get worse before it gets better

The bigger issue isn't that the far-right are getting more support, but that this support mostly comes from the left parties.

It's the SPD and green party that were the big losers of this election, meanwhile the conservatives and far-rights won more and more.

It's not the rightwing people becoming more rightwinged, it's the people previously voting left that suddenly turns right a lot.

There is simply no majority for the left at all.

The (West) German Boomers have always hated the Nazis the most, and were the most radical generation. They were dismayed at how some remained in power after the war.

it probably would help if the media doesn't blame Grne for everything.

I've felt for a good while the left needs to go hard in on the economy and living standards, because the big thing a lot of working class people are dealing with and something that will benefit all but the very top and be easy to rally people behind

You're right, but imo that's not too big an issue for two reasons:

a) I see it as an expression of unhappiness with the current federal government, which is made up of the SPD and the Greens, and not the voters inherently becoming left-wing

b) if and when Wagenknecht, former leader of the Left party, founds her alt-left party as she's stated she will, a lot of these people will go over to her and the AfD will lose its left wing support

You guys need to stop AfD and Pegida before you lose control of the situation.

why is that not an issue? Who should govern other than those?

It's not an issue because those people aren't inherently right-wing, they're just fed up with the left-wing parties in power

At least imo

Wagenknecht wont change much at all.

What will she get? 4%? 6% at most, like the left before? She isn't that popular anymore thanks to her "we need more peaceful talks with Russia".

And that the SPD and greens both lost 1/4 of their voters is quite an issue.

well but they got no reason to be fed up. It's not like CDU wouldn't make the problem 10 times worse.
