Did I fuck up? Service range is pretty much the same nowadays right? We go up to camp in the middle of the mountains and woods and no one ever has service except for the one dude who had T-Mobile. While I like not having service it will be nice to hotspot a bit for all the kids to download game patches and stuff on their switches so they can play together.

Our Verizon plan was super old. It was like 8 gigs split between the lines and you had to pay 10/gig after that or something. All our phones were old and 4G as well. I got tired of it but my mom was always the head person on the account and getting her to do anything with the phone company was tough. I think I've been paying for a data line for a tablet we haven't had in 3 or 4 years. After everything it came to like 180 bucks.

I'm upgrading from a Pixel 4 to an 8 Pro.
My mom is going from a Pixel 2 to a Pixel 7.
My dad is going from a Samsung A21 (or something, I forget) to a Pixel 7a.

Adding in some taxes I'm assuming it's like 130 bucks a month. Fi seems nice because the middle plan is 80 bucks no matter if you have 2, 3, or 4 phones.

Does anyone know a good app that will let me backup everything on the phones including pictures, texts, and contacts and install it on a different phone that may have a different make/model.

I know for the Pixels I can use google backup, but I'm not sure that includes texts. What about going from a Samsung to a Pixel? Also even the ones that are pixel to pixel I'd like to have a backup backup just in case the main one doesn't work, so something that would work on Pixels too.

Can't you trial Fi for a week? See if you like it before committing the switch?

I was going to until I realized my Pixel 4 didn't support e-sim which is needed for the trial. So I'm just gonna risk it and see. Honestly my parents are on wifi 99 percent of the time so it won't matter for them and I don't really care as much.

Use Google photos for photo backup. I havent backed up texts in forever but I just used some app from the play store. Contacts should be synced to Google and backup automatically unless you still insist on saving your contacts to your SIM card like some savage.

I think when you set up your phone, your pixel will offer to transfer data from your old phone. Ive never done it so Im not sure how well it works, but I remember seeing the option.

I don't think I have had problems when I moved from a Pixel 2 to a Pixel 4 so I'm a little less worried about the Pixels. I am not sure if they include text backup or not. I don't care as much but I think my parents do.
