There's prob much much less flies this time of year than during when it was very hot. Do you still see a lot by you?

I've only seen maybe less than 5 all year, a couple of which got into my house, but my kitties hunted them down.

a lot of cats catch flies very well? flies react to changes of air pressure very well. Surprised that your cat could do this

Yeah, there's a trick to it. They have great reaction times, but they always fly straight up, so if you clap right above them, they'll fly right into your hands.

I have a better than 90% success rate on the first try with this method.

Plus even if you miss, the clap is usually close enough that it stuns them and they drop onto the counter top. Game over.

yeah good pt. go from above. They might have all evolved to fly straight up for some kind of evolutionary advantage. I know that a rolled up newspaper doesn't work as well as a fly swatter that has holes in it. They have evolved to detect air coming at them. They began around the time the dinosaurs ended and haven't stuck around this long for nothing.

I'll usually catch them with my hands without hurting them, and put then outside. I don't like killing them if I can avoid it.

I wouldn't know I don't try killing them. They don't bother me unless they try going in my nose eyes or ears and that's more a gnat thing.

Have two co workers that are good though. One can snatch his hat off his head and swat one easily with one fell swoop.

The other can snipe them with a rubber band. Saw him shoot one off a marker laying on the desk. First you saw a fly then boom just a smear of blood.
