Though ive always been overall Democratic, ive gotten way more liberal over time. My dumb 13 year old brain used to think gay people shouldnt be allowed to have children, I had absolutely zero sympathy for anyone in the opioid crisis, and I thought bah theyre just lazy and making excuses instead of understanding what systemic racism is. Oh and a big one was being like well what should Walmart do, fail on purpose to give competitors a fighting chance? Not their fault theyre the best at business. Purely through living life ive realized on my own how wrong all of that is. I would certainly hope people get MORE liberal as they age naturally. Like without even trying or doing research the layers of conservatism will peel away one by one.

As a kid/teen I was a left-leaning enlightened centrist, went through a mildly libertarian phase in college, then have only moved further and further left since as I keep seeing *gestures at everything*

More neoliberal? Like, I'm more economically liberal for sure and I support increased taxes (for everyone to be honest) and substantial welfare increase. But I'm not like an "eat the rich way" kinda guy.

I'm more libertarian in some specific aspects though (zoning laws, licensing, etc.)

1) there are solutions that are generated with honest intentions but generate wildly different results in the long term due to new unforeseen environmental and social dynamics it creates
2) A lot of old traditions were created to target and eliminate specific problems and required full societal support, not opt in if you feel like it.
3) recognizing that yes, cooperation does lead to greater success but people have to be more or less forced by external forces to cooperate else they'll act in their own benefit
4) There's a tolerance level for every system. Exceed the tolerance level and the system will suffer as a result.

Basically exposure to game theory and behavioral economics redefined a lot of my beliefs. It helps that I'm invested in technology (my exposure) that forces people to behave in a certain way and it demonstrates the immense value of cooperation, however, bad actors deal sooooooo much damage to the system, thus more research is generated to create secure systems to prevent said bad actors from exploiting the system.
That was an awful lot of words instead of just "I'm a literal pizzagater, what do you think?"

Not true as others have pointed out.

I think a more apt metric is that conservatives are more unhappy because they turn their fear outward on others and seek scapegoats and groups with less power to punish and hurt.

People that are well adjusted focus on helping others, people that are angry and fearful turn that outward.

I started right leaning, but I got more and more left as I got older. The constant hypocrisy of the religious right, having a harder life due to conservative policies, and the full on willful stupidity of conservatives who refuse to learn from their mistakes was more than needed to swing full left. Hell, my mom was conservative for many years, but went completely left once Trumpism became popular.

I would say I'm relatively the same as since high school, which is what some may describe as socialist libertarian. Economically I'm far more leftist than most Americans. Health Most policies I agree with are in line with democrat leaning states. I also recognize that international trade has has been a boon for the consumer but awful for the worker, so I'm conflicted on that stuff. Socially, very liberal, but questioning the neoliberalism of the 20th century to now. I find most leftist people to be quite annoying but I'd happily take that over the seething hatred of conservatives.

Then they got sweet ass jobs in bullshit jobs such as sales/management/marketing, often cracking the whip on the hardworking and far smarter STEM/engineering people, who earn less than them and work 3x more.

Almost 40, and more liberal in my 30s than I was in my 20s.

My 20s mostly consisted of vague libertarianism, which looking back, I started vearing a bit towards the right then.
