It's highest in the last month has been 48 players, and the lowest was 3 a few days ago (which without crossplay, isn't enough to find a game in the lobby)

And yet there was some PR nonsense from the company about how they're not going to abandon the game... They're also still charging $70 and hoping to find 10 suckers on the planet per day to purchase it...

Its one of those games thats so cookie cutter its not even interestingly bad. Its just bad with no funny parts that make it worth paying any attention to or playing for a little bit.

Yeah, it basically failed on all levels of execution. The shame in all of this is that the base premise held promise. The conceptual idea was sound, but things fall apart beyond that. A part of that is down to the game being a joyless project for those involved, resulting in a correspondingly low-effort presentation. But the game also don't really have a sense of purpose. You're just deposited in this bland world space with some missions and mechanics that barely go beyond MMO status.

Prior to release you also had this perfect storm of IGN really putting the 'ign' in ignorant with their exclusive pre-release gameplay and a weak AI that literally couldn't navigate around a table to save itself. The AI was also slow to respond, allowing players to casually stroll through groups of enemies for a few seconds at the start of an encounter and pick them off.

Lastly, the character powers and skill trees were similarly uninspired and felt half-baked. Like, the cryptozoologist character had an interesting traversal power that let him swap places with a teleportation beacon, but then the psychic character had a spectral elevator that was lame by comparison in both concept and gameplay utility: pops you twenty feet into the air. Half the skill trees for characters were universal 'carry more of this item' choices. That's even worse than lazy stuff like 'deal 10% more damage'. There are at least a few mutator choices for the character's powers.

Remember when Microsoft canceled the Playstation version of this to be like haha Sony fans?

They're still forcing Arkane to waste time working on it, too. Just today they put out a new patch.

Just take the L, drop it, and move on already, nothing is going to save this game.
