Which is probably why we have the Switch all things considered. Like their handhelds have sold more than home consoles.
I can't wait to find out if the switch 4, cause let's be honest the switch lite & OLED were just iterations of it, is actually going to be substantially better, or just an OLED 1.5

Nintendo has enough cash reserves to survive something like 50 straight years of Wii-U like financial failures before they're out of money. People who said Nintendo are done just have no idea what they're talking about.

Nintendo was well off even before the success of the DS and could have survived if the DS flopped. However, Yamauchi discussed how the DS was a big deal to Nintendo morale-wise and they would have been in dire straits from a non financial standpoint had the DS not take off.

So I think the war chest point is a very shallow point since it ignores the intricacies supporting the personnel who need to be invigorated to generate successful products. A company going through a decade of flops is going to have a very, very difficult time climbing out of that hole even if they have the money to weather that seemingly perpetual storm.

Okay, what does that change about people who are saying Nintendo was done back during the Wii u? Are you arguing that they were right because continued failures would have caused Nintendo to eventually collapse in 3 decades due to morale problems? Because the only point I was actually making is that saying Nintendo is done back then was a nonsense statement.

I am not arguing they were right. I'm stating that even Nintendo (specifically one of the late presidents of the company) considered and rejected your point. Regards to whether or not they were right, I don't have an opinion formulated for it currently.

Fair enough. Definitely shouldn't undervalue employee morale.

*falls behind for one generation on the console front (but still dominating in handhelds)*

"Is this a comeback story? "
The 64, GameCube, and Wii U all underperformed in their respective generation.
