That's the theme of his character, and you see it both ways. He has never really had anybody just... Be middling, with him. Either they hate him or they love him, so that's what he responds to. And, to be fair, that's not really a spoiler. You don't really need to actually know who they are or what they did to appreciate the characters, though. It's more of a... Wink wink, nod nod. And, honestly, that's what makes Ted Lasso so great.
