Hey guys. I working with my thesis at the moment. My thesis deals with in-game ads on mobile games. One part of my thesis is a survey about how much ads is too much. I would greatly appreciate it if I could bother you for a few minutes. It would be a great help if you could answer a few multiple choice questions.

Submitted. I was just playing my crossword app in fact, which plays an ad every time you complete a puzzle. Don't really mind it at all since the app is free, and once I've finished one I usually want a mental break anyway.

I only play Fire Emblem Heroes. ZERO ads. Interesting.

I am realizing that the last 3 games I've played for over a year...have not had any mandatory ads.

Took the survey. Being exactly 40, I wasn't sure what to say for the age range, but went with 40-50 since I'm closer to 41 than 39 now.

Anyway, I mostly don't see mobile ads these days. I have a few games I still play somewhat regularly but I paid to get rid of ads long ago, or they don't have them to begin with. There is actually one (silly) game I play occasionally that I've specifically kept ads on so that I can remember how terrible they are (and it's one that only gives an ad upon losing at least, so not in the middle of play)

One bit of a feedback that makes your questions not really line up with the experience - a lot of times, ads are triggered to pop up when you go to a certain screen, usually whatever is considered your "home base" where you manage your roster or whatever., which means they can CONSTANTLY be coming up if you are moving between screens, This is rather than every time you complete a level or task like you have structured your questions. I don't think that experience is quite being captured by in your survey.

they really have you desensitized, eh?

I only tolerate ads if I'm trying out a game to see if I want to pay for the adless version.

I answered as best I could but a lot of this depends on how good the game is and how annoying the ads are. Like banner ads that are a static image of an actual product are effectively a different type of ad to me than banner ads that play an animation or advertise some stupid clickbait thing.

Ads for "products" within the game itself are also not as bad as ads from sponsors.
