Its very good. It captures the JSR feel very well and improves on a lot of game mechanics from the original games.

It's not a 10/10 but I really like it.

fuck yeah, if you like JSR at all, this is definitely up your alley.

i 100% it not too long ago. just like JSR, it's not exactly the longest game, and if you're skilled enough already (if you played the others you most likely are) then the big combo challenges shouldn't be too difficult.

love what they did making a lot of the systems faster and cleaner, like switching characters. it's pretty much everything i wanted from a spiritual successor.

Nice, I was hoping to get in on sale but I might just get it now. Since I like JSR, I'm mainly interested in the roller blades but how are the trick systems--can you pull off a bunch of different moves? Also, are the environments fairly varied?

Its getting a physical release next year and I will 100% be double dipping.

There are a couple of different trick buttons, manuals/slides, and wall rides. You can also do tricks in the air or on a half pipe. They are more similar to button mashing than Tony Hawks pro skater.

There are like 6 main areas and they mostly rhyme with various JGR/JSRF level designs. Heavily inspired might be too generous. In a way I wish they had been a bit more original. Parts of the game are also inspired by psychonauts in a way. No spoilers, so just take it at face value.

The story is actually really good. I was drawn way in during the tutorial. As it progresses it feels kind of anime-ish, but in a good way.

The main characters are great. The story characters are great. The unlockable characters feel a little bland and ripped off at the same time. I wish they had the same originality as the story characters.

You start the game with rollerblades, but end up with the skateboard after the tutorial. You have to play through a couple of chapters to unlock the blades and the bmx, but they play exactly the same outside of a coupe ways they interact with levels. There was a game breaking bug at one point and they moved the unlocks up in the story iirc. It might be available earlier now.

The soundtrack is amazing and easily the best part of the game. Thats without the tracks from Hideki Naganuma, which are great but very similar to his previous work. They could more or less be sequels to songs from the JGR/JSRF games.

It took me about 17 hours to beat the game, but I was trying to do as much as I could in each area before moving on. Ive more or less unlocked everything, outside of completing post game score challenges. Im saving those for when I replay it.

Easily my GotY so far.
