Depends on your perspective, but with the idea that we are all equal, nah, it's just as bad.

But robbing a man of the law is not going to make a judge of the law feel too bad about not giving you the lighter end of the sentence for whatever crime(s) you are charged with.

In theory, no.

In practice, considerably more effort will go into finding these people and the prosecutor is much more likely to go hard on them.
