I know that Kaiser Permanente healthcare workers are going on strike but many people out there say they should be banned from doing it because healthcare is very important to society functioning and many people can die without workers available

I always wondered what would happen if President Biden made it illegal for them to strike. I know he did it for the railway workers and they were forced to suck it up and take a bad deal.

then you'd just have a continuation of what is already happening

people leaving healthcare

major hospitals, including a level 1 trauma center in Atlanta, are closing. Hospital closures will only continue if you can't find people to work in them.

Healthcare sucks. Private equity destroyed it

If healthcare is too important to allow underpaid workers to strike then why is healthcare for all not a thing

Fuck conservatives

they should have go on strike anyway
people have to realize that it's the workers that have the power not the rulers, because if the people unite there's nothing the people in charge can do about it

Probably because you don't actually need trains to not die

Huh.

Sounds like we should be paying them more then, as well as giving them whatever reasonable accommodations they're asking for.

You'd probably get something like how protests work in Japan, where people keep going into work but just refuse to charge customers:

Australia did something similar:

We're too important to be treated like shit.

I'm sure the same people that cry about how universal healthcare is slavery will be screaming about heartless workers caring more about getting paid than helping others.

Same.

At least we have freedom.

Not from crippling debt of course, I mean what developed country has a healthcare system that doesn't ruin you for having to use it?

Almost all of them? Huh.

So do patients. At least in the VA system anyway.

Patients get treated like dirt in hospitals too.

Unless you are rich or well connected.

Particularly because they were striking for updated equipment and a reduced work week. And the union had supported Reagan after receiving this promise.

You can rest assured that if I am elected President, I will take whatever steps are necessary to provide our air traffic controllers with the most modern equipment available and to adjust staff levels and work days so that they are commensurate with achieving a maximum degree of public safety.

They would have no choice but to work or quit if they're not allowed to strike

Not just fired, banned any fired person from ever working as an air traffic controller gain. Clinton later reversed that lifetime ban but few of them ever worked as ATC again.
