He doubled down on it during his court hearing, claiming that she was interfering with his communicating with God and was also harming their 89-year-old mother who was also present when he killed her. What set him off was seeing a minor bruise on his mother's hand, which he blamed on his sister.

He also says that he started developing mental health issues while serving in Desert Storm and was on medicine for diagnosed schizoaffective disorder and bipolar with manic depression, but in 2019 stopped taking the medication after attending a healing church service.

At 89, a person can get bruised if their hand brushes against a cereal box.

Fuck that church. People should be held liable for shit like that. A psychic would be, and they know it, which is why they always tell people they're for entertainment purposes only and nothing they say should be considered more important than a doctor's medical expertise and blah blah blah. A preacher shouldn't be any different... they're just as much a con artist as the psychic, just the psychic is forced to be a smidge more honest about it.

But yeah, getting off of medication shouldn't even be an option for a person like this unless a doctor signs off on it. They shouldn't be allowed to put other people in danger just because Billy Bob down at the church (whose experience boils down to the ideas he gets while huffing paint fumes) thinks he knows better.

That is the best idea I have heard in a long time.

All churches must display clearly a sign saying 'For entertainment purposes only. Please seek professional advice before following any of our teachings'.

Any church worth their salt would have told him to go his ass back to the doctor and get back on meds

Any church would just tell him to pray the bad thoughts away.

This is just one of many reasons why churches should have absolutely 0 power or say in anything.

And if a priest or whatever tells you not to take medication but faith whatever is going on with you away they should 100% be liable for what may transpire afterwards along with people like this guy.

They are not medical experts, they're indoctrination tools.

"I had to do what I did to her because she was getting in the way of me communicating to God."

I realize this is a sick person we're talking about, but this seems to be a frequent belief that they have, that witches/the devil are more powerful than God.

Always seems to be a pick and choose or straight up make up what you believe as you go along, whatever justifies doing what you wanna do, anyway. In this case, the man seems to have hated his sister and the mumbo-jumbo is just his way of justifying it instead of admitting jealousy or something like that.

"She was obsessed with reality shows about serial killers and the Amityville murders," Anthony said in court. "Meanwhile, Wanda Paoli told me she had bought and purchased a battery powered chainsaw."

If she's powerful enough to create a magical dampening field that blocks God, she doesn't need a chainsaw to kill a lady that's pushing 90.
