So this is probably a really stupid question. But all my life Ive been using liquid soap and Ive decided I want to make a change.

A couple questions I have:

  1. Do you just rub the bar on your skin?
  2. How do you properly store it and allow it to dry if you cant leave it in the bathroom? (Id have to bring it into my room lol)
And just any othero info I should know. Thanks.

Use a washcloth or a loofa, lather it up and use that to wash your body with.

A soap dish out of contact with water will keep the bottom from getting gross and it from melting down from water spray, ideally if you have a high shelf in the shower.

You lather it up or apply it directly to the skin.

You can maybe get yourself a butter dish or something to put it on for it dry. I don't have much experience with that. I'd just put mine in a baggy and it'd get all weird but i didn't care.

I have to ask: what's wrong with directly on skin?
I think I'm the only one saying that's what you do cause that's what i do. I used to use a net sponge but stopped.

Probably nothing tbqh. Unless you have specific dermatological needs, your hand, some soap, some warm water, and a bit of vigorous rubbing creates enough mechanical action to wash away the oils and debris that build up on your skin so that you are well and truly "clean". Most of your skin doesn't need additional exfoliation or anything crazy like that. The only common exception is the face, where deep pores and over-active oil glands can obviously cause issues like acne.

If you've been doing some Mike Rowe Dirty Jobs type stuff then sure, consider some actual scrubbing. But I would imagine there is no discernible difference between people who thoroughly clean with a washcloth/luffa and those who thoroughly clean with just their hands. People are very attached to their rituals though so don't be surprised if you get a reaction with that.

I've always been a direct bar rub guy. For my face and butthole regions I just get a good lather in my hands and scrub bare handed, different lathers of course.

They have soap dish containers you can pick up. Thats what I used to use when I was in the military and you didnt leave your soap in a personal shower.

Nothing. The average person is fine doing that. Unless you're a mechanic getting grease on yourself all day or something you're not going to need a washcloth or a loofah just to get clean of daily perspiration.

It's a waste of soap. You get more usage out of rubbing it on a loofah or sponge then using that until the soap is used up.

Congrats. Bar soap is more economical and environmentally friendly.

Use bar directly on skin. It's better for your skin as rags and loofahs cause excessive exfoliating.

Decide whether you're a bar in the cheeks or soapy hands.

Head to toes.
